Club Equipment
The club carries a wide variety of beginner to intermediate boards, including:
- 6 Starboard Start boards
- A wide style board used for beginner lessons. The wide style boards allow students to gain confidence sailing on stable boards that allow them to practice technique.
- 1 Mistral Prodigy
- Another wide style board used for beginner lessons. The wide style boards allow students to gain confidence sailing on stable boards that allow them to practice technique. The Prodigy can also be used to get into higher wind sailing. The shape and relative light weight of the Prodigy can offer formula like performance, and it’s a blast on a plane.
- 2 HiFly Magnums (170-180 liters)
- Slight narrower than the previous two boards, the Magnums all have dagger boards to help stay upwind. With plenty of flotation, you won’t have to worry about sailing these guys in light wind. Good boards to move to after you have learned your beginning balance.
- 4 Hifly short boards (100/130 liters)
- Narrower yet and even less floaty, these boards are great for working on your stability. Sailors above 180 pounds will notice that this board sinks until you get it going, but don’t let that fool you. These boards are fast fast fast, when the wind is up. Without a dagger board, make sure you have enough wind, or can stay upwind or your launch.
For beginner lessons the club uses Starboard Start boards along with the Mistral Prodigy. The wide style boards allow students to gain confidence sailing on stable boards that allow them to practice technique. Once students’ progress they are moved to the Hifly Magnums. The Magnums offer plenty of flotation with a slight compromise in stability.
The club also has various long boards that are available for rental as well.
